WRT Day

9 November 2011

The World Responsible Tourism Day (WRTD) had 4 main aims:

  • To help drive change by educating more responsible behaviour with the travel and tourism industry and travelling public
  • To explore the issues of how countries and destinations are made more sustainable including case studies of best practices
  • To educate the marketplace and debate key environmental related issues to push the agenda and be a catalyst for change
  • To harness the influence of World Travel Market as an international business forum to encourage the industry to drive the responsible tourism agenda forward
  • responsible tourism day 2011

We were granted use of the WRTD logo for this year's celebration due to Nurture Lakeland's contribution to responsible tourism, check our achievements here for more information.

This year Nurture Lakeland staff got involved by sharing responsible travel experiences through our very own 'show & tell' session. We opened our office to Nurture Lakeland members and the local community to enable them to find out more about our responsible tourism initiatives. We munched on some low carbon treats, linked up with other events via twitter and hopefully inspired people to travel more responsibly.
