Green Eden

'Green Eden' is an exciting initiative being delivered under a new arm of Nurture Lakeland called Nurture Eden.
‘Green Eden’ is based exclusively in East Cumbria and is supporting businesses in and around the Eden Valley to develop a wide-ranging programme of low impact, responsible tourism activity.
What will the project do?
support tourism businesses in the Eden Valley to improve their environmental practices
facilitate the creation of low impact holidays, based around Eden’s unique attributes by developing new product ideas with our business members
support local green infrastructure and conservation projects to encourage low impact activities such as walking, cycling and nature-based tourism.
promote the new range of Eden offers under one coordinated marketing campaign
What’s it trying to achieve?

Support tourism operators and associated businesses in the area to develop a range of responsible tourism initiatives through training, green accreditations, and development of appropriate resources
Create and develop new products with a focus on sustainability and low impact holidays, including cycling and walking itineraries
Improve collaboration between existing businesses
Expand the responsible tourism offer in the area to encourage visitors to stay longer
Increase the profitability of participating businesses
Establish Eden as a prime destination for low impact, responsible holidays
Who’s it for?
‘Green Eden’ is recruiting businesses and supporting them to develop new, low impact holiday ideas into workable solutions
Participating businesses are playing a crucial role in shaping the project and deciding its direction
Support will be provided with launching and promoting new tourism products and businesses will be supported to achieve green accreditations such as Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) or Cumbria Business Environment network (CBEN)
We’d also like to hear about local conservation and green infrastructure projects which ‘A Green Eden’ might be able to support financially throughNurture Lakeland’s highly acclaimed Visitor Payback Scheme helping businesses to fundraise for local projects
