Penruddock Path Featured

A new public footpath is being created linking Penruddock village with a housing development at Station Road near Motherby. This new path will provide a safe, off-road alternative for children from Station Road to get to school in Penruddock rather than walk along the tarmac road, or be driven to school. Children have been using an informal muddy pathway which runs through overgrown and scrubby woodland, which is neither safe nor convenient, and is often impassable during the winter. The path will also benefit the local community who access services (pub, post office, village hall) between Station Road, Motherby and Penruddock, and will provide another link to the public footpath network.

The work involves clearing the line of the path, creating a new path surface, and installing drainage, gates and fencing. The finished path will legally dedicated as public footpath, providing ongoing public access.

The new path meets targets for Cumbria Rights of Way Improvement Plan, and was identified by the parish council as a priority for the local community.
