Elterwater Riverside Walk Featured

Members of Nurture Lakeland are working with the National Park and the National Trust to help save one of the Lake District’s most loved paths.

The bridleway alongside Great Langdale Beck at Elterwater is a popular and scenic walk in the Langdale valley. It has good access, with pubs and cafes nearby, and great views of Loughrigg and the Langdales. As a result it is well used by people of all ages, including families with young children. It is one of a number of ‘Miles without Stiles’ routes in the National Park, which are promoted as being suitable for people with limited mobility.

In recent years unusually intense rainfall and a series of bad floods have devastated this quiet riverside path and repeatedly washed away the gravel surface. The National Park and National Trust now plan to use innovative ways to repair the path and provide a more permanent and sustainable surface, suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs, walkers, bikes and horses.

Donations to this project will help to make this route as accessible as possible for everyone.
