Eden Spoke Festival - Glastonbury for Bikes?

Many of you who regularly follow our work here at Nurture Eden may have noticed that we are rather fond of two-wheel non-motorised transport, and that we've been trying to share our love of all things bike related with everyone over the last 10 months or so. Well, to cap off what has been fantastic year for cycling, we've teamed up with the guys and girls from Lakeland Trails to bring a new two day cyclist festival to Eden.

We've called it the Eden Spoke Festival – catchy isn't it – and over two days on August 17/18th there will be two 100k cycle sportives, a 50k leisure ride, a 10k family ride and a host of kids races at the Frenchfields Sports Ground. While we are starting small, the long term goal is to develop an annual cycling festival, that grows and grows and with the Lakeland Trails team at the helm we're convinced it will. Glastonbury had to start somewhere and this is just the beginning for the Eden Spoke Festival.

The events are being themed as quintessentially English days out and it will certainly a bit different from your regularly sportive, but we're keeping those details under wraps for now – you'll just have to come along and find out for yourselves.

The Nurture Eden team will be riding the 50k event, with the main focus at the moment being, not on training, but what to take for the picnic stop! Now that's my sort of cycling!

[Disclaimer - Okay, so calling it the Glastonbury for bikes might be a bit of an exaggeration, it certainly made for a catchy title for this blog post. ]
