Celebrating in style

Around 60 people from all over the UK attended our Visitor Giving Conference and over 120 friends, partners, and supporters joined us for a fantastic and glamorous celebration in the evening. My heart was just bursting with pride as we had our very own rendition of This is Your Life, with Bob Cartwright our Vice Chair, regaling us with memories of all those special moments and triumphs over our last 18 years, and Ian Douglas, local story teller, gathering memories and recollections from members old and new, turning them into our very own ‘Ballad of Nurture Lakeland’.

What was so special to me were the lengths that people had taken to be with us on the night. Oliver Maurice, one of our founder members had travelled over from France just be with us for the occasion, and others had made the long trip from the every corner of the UK.

For me too, it was a chance to celebrate not only the past, but also the present, and once again my heart was overflowing with pride for the Responsible Tourism award winners on the night, and also for the incredible team of people who I am fortunate to be surrounded by, including staff, trustees and supporters.

I only wish we could be 18 every year!
