Eden District Council Featured

Eden District Council's boundaries cover a large rural area with a population of 52,000, stretching from Alston Moor in the North Pennines, to Mallerstang in the South, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Ullswater, in the Lake District National Park falls within its boundaries to the west and the Eden Valley runs through the centre.

With so much wonderful countryside and special wildlife within the district, an ever increasing number of visitors find Eden a lovely holiday destination. Tourism is now an important economic factor for the area, bringing in an annual income of £146 million and providing over a quarter of our jobs.

The Council is proud to be a corporate member of The Tourism and Conservation Partnership and fully endorses and supports its work in developing relationships between visitors, businesses and local conservation initiatives as a way of both increasing visitor's enjoyment of the area and helping to look after our countryside.
