Augill Castle Featured

The castle, five star guest accommodation modelled on nearby Lowther Castle, sits between Kirkby Stephen and Appleby where the Yorkshire Dales roll down in to Cumbria towards the Lake District.

From the long, leisurely breakfast to dinner where everyone eats together, anything goes at Augill except hushed tones and false formality.

Laid back friendliness and warmth, romantic but also effortlessly family friendly, Augill Castle between the Lake District & Yorkshire Dales is not a conventional hotel and, above all else, not a place for taking yourself or life too seriously.

Wendy & Simon Bennett now run the castle in a modern and informal style with relaxed service, award winning guest accommodation, honest, imaginative food and a genuine desire to create a comfortable place to unwind.

We believe that looking after the environment also includes looking after the people with whom we do business and the community of which we are a part.
From recycling to investing in new technology, nothing is overlooked. We gladly ferry guests to and from the nearest public transport and will enthuse about local walks which take in scenery as good as any in the lakes or dales without the drive.
