Nurture's Longest Walk

The Longest Walk was a sponsored walk in the beautiful setting of the Lake District, aiming to raise money to aid the conservation of one of the most treasured and consequently most visited regions in the country.

Nurture Lakeland's Longest Walk officially ended on Sunday 23 May. A big thank you to all those who took part. We raised £583.00 and walked 1483.5 miles!

nl-team -summitWe held this event as part of the launch of our new name, Nurture Lakeland. The target was to walk 1000 miles and to raise money to support the conservation of the Lake District and Cumbria.

We planned several routes to cater for all, including a ‘Miles without Stiles’ route accessible for everyone. Our longest route took us up the slopes of the Old Man of Coniston, to enjoy its breathtaking views, and for those seeking a more leisurely route there was a tranquil walk along the shores of Coniston Lake.

For those couldn't join us we encouraged people to go on their own walks and do it independently, planning the route for their own sponsored walks whilst still having the opportunity to fundraise for an important cause.

j_kaye_winner-wPeople were also encouraged to text us to donate and give their name and the number of miles walked. This was a new fundraising method for Nurture Lakeland and proved to be a success, with one lucky texter
(Mr Jonathan Kaye) winning a rucksack which was kindly donated by Haglofs.
