Both of these are paid positions and offer a fantastic opportunity to get involved with conservation, fundraising and Sustainable Tourism by working with our experienced staff on projects, campaigns and events at Nurture Lakeland.
Nurture Lakeland is a highly regarded award winning organisation delivering sustainable tourism advice and campaigns to businesses and visitors across the region. The organisation is also known for its unique ‘Visitor Payback Scheme’ which raises funds for conservation and environmental projects.
The Sustainable Tourism Intern will work with the Sustainable Tourism Advisor and the Director of Nurture Lakeland on a range of sustainable tourism initiatives in the Lake District and across Cumbria.As a Sustainable Tourism Intern you will be involved in a range of our current sustainable tourism projects including; Love Your Lakes, Fix the Fells and Be Car Free.
In particular you will be involved in our Be Car Free project. This project is tackling the issue of high CO2 emissions in the region as a result of visitor travel habits. Our aim is influence visitor behaviour by working though our network of business members and thus reducing CO2 emissions of visitors by 20%.
In this exciting and innovative campaign you will be working with Nurture Lakeland and partner organisations including the Lake District National Park, National Trust, Cumbria Business Environment Network, Natural England and a range of other stakeholders. We also have a membership of over 250 businesses across the county and a huge network of support.
This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with a good degree or a background in tourism who would like to enhance his or her sustainable tourism experience and credentials.
Nurture
The role will involve:
Working with business in the tourism sector in Cumbria to develop innovative solutions to tourism impacts.
Organising training,
Providing background research, support and information for projects and campaigns
Contributing to key
The PR & Marketing Graduate Trainee will work with the Director of Nurture Lakeland and the Marketing and Communications Officer on a range of our sustainble tourism and fundraising campaigns across the Lake District and Cumbria.
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual to work with us to develop and implement a marketing plan for a variety of exciting new projects and campaigns at Nurture Lakeland. New projects include the launch of a public membership scheme, a Green Business Directory, the Big Knit project, and a variety of our ongoing campaigns such as Fix the Fells and Love Your Lakes. Nurture Lakeland has recently undergone a rebrand from The Tourism and Conservation Partnership, at the same time developing a new website and corporate branding for promotional materials.
Your role will be to generate marketing materials and press coverage in support of some of our biggest campaigns as well as to promote our services.
This challenging work is vital to our ability to increase awareness and generate support, so it's essential that you have plenty of creative flair and a solid understanding in PR, marketing or media, ideally including digital PR.
