Hill of Oaks Cruise

Home owners from Hill of Oaks Park boarded a boat on Windermere last week to set sail on an unusual treasure hunt.  The fundraising evening, organised by Lake District Estates, helped raise funds for local conservation charity Nurture Lakeland.

Passengers enjoyed drinks and live music as the treasure hunt began! Although the hunt was somewhat restricted by the confines of the boat, the quality of the prizes had no bounds!

All the prizes had been generously donated by local businesses including family passes to Lake District Estates attractions the La’al Ratty at Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Ullswater Steamers. English Lakes Hotels gave away a pamper day courtesy of the Low Wood Hotel and the Cartmel Sticky Toffee Company donated a hamper full of goodies.

£351 was raised at the event. All the proceeds will go towards the Cumbrian charity Nurture Lakeland, which supports local conservation projects and promotes sustainable tourism.

Tiffany Solender, Fundraiser at Nurture Lakeland, said “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped organize this fantastic fundraising event. It was a fun night and for a good cause.

Lake District Estates have been members of ours for years, and with the help of their visitors and park home owners they have done a huge amount to help care for our beautiful yet fragile landscape.”
