Kate Rew 'Wild Swimming' talk

As the sun blazed down on Derwentwater over the weekend at the Keswick Mountain Festival Kate Rew was blazing a trail for outdoor swimmers during her Wild Swim clinics and successful talk at the Festival.

In conversation with Richard Leafe, Chief Executive of the Lake District National Park, Kate, who founded the Outdoor Swimming Society, described her passion for wild swimming and her enthusiasm for swimming in the many beautiful open stretches of water on offer in the Lake District.

Speaking in support of the Love your Lakes campaign, Kate talked of the importance of protecting water quality for everyone who likes to use the lakes – including swimmers! A timely message indeed – as the warm, sunny, still weather brought blue-green algal blooms to Derwentwater on the very weekend of the Festival.
