Challenge Week for Fix the Fells
With your help, Santa could be delivering an early present to help look after the Lake District's upland paths. The Fix the Fells project is a participant in the Christmas Challenge 2013 promotion by the Big Give. It's an organisation which provides a way for people to support charities and projects of interest, and for charities to engage with donors.
The Big Give showcases the work of over 8,000 charities running a wide variety of innovative programmes including this year's 'Christmas Challenge'.
Fix the Fells, a partnership project between the Lake District National Park, National Trust, Natural England, Nurture Lakeland, Friends of the Lake District and Cumbria County Council encourages greater understanding of and support for upland access and repairs seriously eroded land and paths.
Ruth Kirk, Fundraising Development Officer for Fix the Fells partner Nurture Lakeland, sees this as a great opportunity to raise some much needed revenue to support the work of the project.
"We received a fantastic pledge of £5,000 from holiday cottage company, Heart of the Lakes. If we reach our target of £10,000 in online donations during the challenge week in December, the Big Give will match the initial pledge of £5,000.
"Fix the Fells works hard to protect the Lake District and ensure that it remains accessible to everybody. We're asking people to make a donation online by debit or credit card to 'Fix the Fells' during the December challenge week to help us fund this amazing work."
The Big Give Christmas Challenge runs from Thursday 5th December ending on Wednesday December 18th. If you'd like to contribute to the Fix the Fells project, DONATE HERE from 5th December.
