Love Your Lakes Approved

Since 2009 the Love Your Lakes team have been working with hundreds of tourism businesses throughout the Bassenthwaite and recently Windermere catchment areas. The response has been fantastic. So many guest houses, outdoor centres, hotels and campsites are realising the benefits of looking after our local lakes.

The Love Your Lakes team has been advising local businesses about how to reduce negative impacts on the lakes, maintaining their beauty and accessibility for recreation.

It's simple. Change your laundry and dishwashing detergents to ones that don't contain phosphates. Swapping your current brand doesn't need to cost you the earth, there are so many alternatives with prices and values to suit every consumer. By helping hold back the tide of phosphates entering our precious lakes we can keep them clean and healthy, meaning we can carry on enjoying them for many years to come and safe guard the future of the area's tourism.

With so many businesses now on board we have launched the "Love Your Lakes Approved" scheme. If you are a phosphate free business (p-free laundry and dishwashing products) you could be eligible to use our logo and strengthen your marketing appeal.

The "Approved" logo tells your consumers you care about the landscapes they are inspired to visit, are taking action to conserve it for future generations and are supporting an important local project. More and more guests are looking for businesses with green credentials, make sure they choose you!

How do I become "Approved"?

To  become Love Your Lakes Approved;

• You must show that you are committed to using phosphate free laundry and dishwashing products throughout your business.
• You must be committed to fundraising via our unique visitor payback scheme to support a local project. Visitor payback is at no cost to your business. Visitor payback is voluntary and you're simply acting as a collection point for the money guests are often so willing to give.
