Eigg's green challenge

18/11/09

Eigg is a tiny, beautiful island off the west coast of Scotland. Last year it entered a national carbon cutting competition, Nesta’s Big Green Challenge.

As one of ten finalists, they have spent the challenge year doing everything they can to shrink their carbon footprint – from running community vehicles on biodiesel, to refurbishing draughty farmhouses, testing solar heating systems, swapping tips for energy saving and growing vegetables in polytunnels.

Hear all about the incredible big green journey - John Hutchinson from the Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust is giving a facinating talk on Thursday 10th December, 18:30-20:00 at the Ambleside Campus of the University of Cumbria. More information.
